All sorted! BlackBerry Lotusphere sessions app is ready

RIM sorted out my signature keys very quickly (a thank you to Jen Stevenson and Erik in developer support), and so we now have the new BlackBerry Sessions app, 'LSMobile', ready to download.

There are two versions, one for the Storm and one for non-touch devices. You can download them by browsing to these urls from your BlackBerry Browser:

Storm:

http://lotusphere.turtleweb.com/lsstorm

Other devices:

http://lotusphere.turtleweb.com/lsbb

The data for the app comes from Ben Langhinrich's Lotusphere Journal 2010 database, which you can find here http://lotusphere.turtleweb.com/lsessdb. As always, many thanks to Ben for this.

Once you have the app installed, choose 'Load Data' from the menu to download the latest session details from Ben's database. You can browse by date and time, search by keyword (such as topic, or speaker), add sessions to your calendar, and provide feedback which will be posted to Ben's database. The sessions data is stored locally, so you can get at the details even if you are out of service, or have expensive data roaming turned off :-)

It's also nice to see that IBM have posted their own BlackBerry app on lsonline, for those of you that have a login. It is very simple, no search or add to calendar for example, but it appears to be connected to the lsonline agenda database, and so should have up-to-date information during the conference. (Our data comes from Ben's data, which comes from their data, so we may be slightly out of step).

Excellent!!!!!!!!!!

Loaded the data fine.

Stupid user question: I can "Select a Date" fine (Day - 1 Sunday, etc.), but I can't "Select a Time", or at least idiotCraig (tm) can't.

Nevermind.

Closed it and went back in after loading data and it works.

I think if you switch to another date, or press space, it loads the choices for time slots, so hopefully you shouldn't need to reopen it.

Thanks. I am adding this to the Official 'Social Media Guide' for Lotusphere post.

@Mr Jattery - that option didn't work on the initial load, as there was no data in the time field, so I couldn't enter the field. Exiting and reopening after the data load worked.

Thanks guys for setting this up. I'm having a little problem on my BB9700... I've loaded the data, but when I press my trackpad on either day or time, I get the list of menu options, as if I'd pressed the menu button...

Most odd... any ideas?!

The top choice in the menu should be 'Change Option', and this should then give you the choices for day or time. Do you not have this choice showing?

@tim No...

It looks like the 9700 (v5) device doesn't handle the default context menu in the same way as earlier devices, so that option is missing. I am working on an update, but in the mean time, pressing 'space' will step through the choices in the date and time fields. Thanks to Lewis for spotting this.

I have just uploaded a new version of the non-Storm version which addresses some problems with the behaviour of the menus. You can download this to your BlackBerry from { Link }

I've also uploaded this to App World, so you can get it from there too. RIM seem to be very fast to approve these update, which is nice.

(Don't forget to do a 'Load Data' to get the new showcase pedestal details.)

Thanks, I have it.
