LS Session: Defence Against The Dark Arts (with Andrew Pollack)

Gabriella Davis  6 February 2011 19:23:01
Here are my slides for Andrew's and my jumpstart on security called Defence Against the Dark Arts.  We tried to do something different this year and instead of going through each security features invidividually, we took the idea of security risk personas and talked you through how to mitigate them.

The evaluations so far are fantastic so I think we're onto something - I hope you find the slides of interest

The PDFs are damaged. I assume, you have "Compress" checked in the file browse dialog when attaching the files.

When you uncheck the option and upload the files again, your reader will be able to open the files :)

Thanks very much for these, and thanks to the other people who co-presented the topics with you (from a non-attendee of LS).,

@1 - PDF's open fine now.

@2: Still getting an error on all PDFs "File is damaged and cannot be fixed"

@2 Ulrich, I just rechecked all 4 which I had downloaded to my hard drive and they all open fine. Also, just opened the 'dark arts' pdf from this web site again, and it opened fine from there too. Might be worth checking your browser cache in case the PDFs were fixed since your first post.

I loved the Dark Arts session, hands down my favorite. I finished typing up all the bullet points and presented it to my management as 2011 goals. I did have a take-away though, in the session you mentioned using a free tool called Directory Updater, I can't find it anywhere. Can you point me in the right direction?

@David - if you want to email me directly gabriella AT turtlepartnership.com I'll send it to you with pleasure. I'm not sure where to publicly post it yet but I'm happy to share it.

Thanks very much for the kind comments.
