Ada Lovelace Day - and why you should sign up

Gabriella Davis  8 January 2009 12:16:39
Ada Lovelace was one of the world's first computer programmers writing programmes for Charles Babbage's never built Analytical Engine. She also wrote the very first description of a computer and of software.  In celebration of Ada and in support of women in technology worldwide there is Ada Lovelace day.

On March 24th 2009 you are asked to blog about a woman (or multiple women!)  in technology who you admire or who inspired you

"Recent research by psychologist Penelope Lockwood discovered that women need to see female role models more than men need to see male ones. But in the tech world women's contributions often go unacknowledged and role models are hard to find. Ada Lovelace Day is a chance for us to sing the praises of the women who make tech tick: entrepreneurs, innovators, sysadmins, programmers, designers, games developers, hardware experts, tech journalists, tech consultants... "
