Lotusphere Plans - No Time To Lose!

Gabriella Davis  18 January 2011 11:12:10
Lotusphere is almost here - for me it's only 9 day's away and I haven't blogged my activities at all.  Like Paul I made a conscious effort to dial back a bit this year but I'm very excited about what's going on and the chance to meet up with everyone.  My resolution this year is to make it through an entire evening at Kimonos, not much of a target for most people but a tough goal for my crowd-fearing self.

This is my last year on the board of the Penumbra Group so I will be arriving at Lotusphere early for our meeting and to handover chairmanship to Carl Tyler.

NERD101 Nerd Girl Panel: Work is Not a Romance Novel or a Football Game
DL S. Hemisphere IV-V 11.15 - 12.15pm
What do romantic cliches or sports analogies mean when applied in corporate environments? What actually happens if you do as Mills & Boon suggest, and let a big strong man fix all your problems? Does a rallying call from Coach (project leader) really bring everything together?  In this open discussion, we're going to talk about how women and men can come to the workplace with certain expectations and vocabularies that all influence how we behave -- even if we're not aware of it. These assumptions cause unexpected side effects for both Nerd Girls and Guys.  We'll start our discussion with this exciting topic and take it on from there. We believe you'll find it enlightening.

Nerd Girl Mentoring
Speedmentoring is a new type of session for Lotusphere brought to you by the Nerd Girls .  In our many panels and user groups over the past 3 years we've had people ask for informal mentoring so in this session, whether your male or female, you'll have a chance to meet and talk to our volunteer mentors about being a Nerd Girl.   At the very least you can make connections with our expanding Nerd Girl network and join our online communities.  Each mentor will only be able to give you limited time one on one so this is Nerd Girl networking at high speed.  Everyone welcome, just bring your questions and enthusiasm.

Wednesday night party.  Universal Islands Of Adventure. I'll be the one mocking the terrible british accents at the Harry Potter ride.

But, as always, there are more questions than  opportunities for answers. We're giving you one last chance to pick their brains -  and that opportunity is known as GURUpalooza. Bring those final questions, com- ments, and even a little bit of praise to GURUpalooza and let's all have one more  collaborative "geek fest"before we draw Lotusphere 2011 to a close!

If this is your "conscious effort to dial back" than we may need to stage an intervention or something. Sounds like lots of fun and geekiness, and I hope you have a wonderful week.

This is a very unreasonable amount of freetime. I would prefer it you would dial it a bit back up and actually remove the unnecessary sleeping :-)
